However, it was not an official holiday for the college and classes were not cancelled, according to Assistant to Executive Vice President Helen Baker.
Students needed an excused absence from the Office of Academic Affairs (SR-105) to attend off-campus MLK events that interfered with class schedules.
Baker had suggested to Bacone faculty if students asked to be excused from Monday classes to direct them to SR-105.
Student Life provided a bus to take students to the local Martin Luther King parade with a sign-in sheet.
The Office of Academic Affairs reviewed names of students who rode the bus and other requests for excused absences.
Bacone faculty received an e-mail today with those names included. Those who did not ride the Student Life bus, but attended MLK events on Monday, must show documentation to the Office of Academic Affairs, said Baker.
