Once one roll of turf finally made it inside the Student Center, several RS Global Landscaping workers decide to forgo machinery, grab handles, and pull the first strip in place. Foster said the reused indoor field and track protects from weather elements, which gives athletes a practice option during bad weather. “You have huge storms in Oklahoma, and you have extreme heat in August,” he said. “It helps us train regardless of conditions.”

What used to be Walmart automotive is now a football and track field. Workers use vaccums to clean and then eventually glue the turf. Assistant Vice President of Student Life Shelli Hopkins said one field section will eventually have intramural games such as volleyball or football.“The opportunities are pretty limitless,” she said. “It’s just a matter of imagination, and getting together to do it.”
