MUSKOGEE– Picnics in the park, barbeques with your favorite people, and the aromatic scent of lilacs blooming are literally all things associated with the spring season – and for college football players, so is spring football.
The Bacone Warriors, led by fourth-year Head Coach Trevor Rubly (18-13) participated in their last spring practice this Tuesday.
Conveying the offensive ship, coordinator Scott Clough, alongside offensive line coach, Mark Konopka, and latest staff signee and wide receiver coach, Jeremy Richardson (Joliet Junior College, Illinois) set to sail into even greater heights this coming fall. Ranking top 10 [nationally] in both passing yards per game (311.4 yds) and total passing yards (3,425).
Returning for their finale, wide receiver tandem David Chapman and Larry Stokes teamed up for a monstrous 78 catches for 1,635 yards last season and over 13 touchdowns.
Defensively, Rubly and supporting cast E.J. Valentine (defensive line) and Roberts Daniels (linebackers) prepare to enhance the indubitably imposing stats set last year, ranking eighth in opposing 3rd down conversions (30.6%) and 11th in total sacks (31.5).
Seniors Alex Wilson and Chase Rettig—who combined for a total of 6 interceptions last year—in company with returners, Aaron Jones and Keshaun Malone, compose the formula that makes coach Valentine’s “Death Row” petrified on a conference-wide scale.
The Warriors are set to wreck-shop at their annual spring game Saturday, April 19th at 2 pm.
