The Bacone College Student Government Association held their end of the semester “Appreciation Day” for Club Advisors and Clubs on Thursday, April 24. President Haley Henry handed out certificates of appreciation to the various clubs and advisors.
Lavell Broughton was recognized for the “most improved” this year. He re-energized the membership and has been very active in assisting the SGA with all of its events.
Henry also acknowledged the BASS Club and their Advisor, Professor Barry Weathers, for assisting the SGA in creating the new SGA Constitution and By-Laws.
This is the first time in Bacone’s history that the students have taken an active role in writing their own Constitution and By-Laws.
“I want to thank all the Advisors who have given unselfishly and tirelessly of their time to work with Club members. It’s truly a labor of love to put in hours outside of the classroom in order for these Clubs to continue,” said Wambli Sina Win J.D., Associate Professor and Director, Rennard Strickland School of Tribal Law & Criminal Justice. “Clubs play a vital role in improving the overall quality of student life at Bacone. These Advisors such as Barry Weathers and Marsha Taylor, are beloved and respected by the students they work with and they are the “glue” that holds things together and keeps students coming back to Bacone College each year.”
The 2014-2015 SGA officers were also announced.
